The Truth Speaks For Itself

In the past 3 quarters of the academic year, only one remained constant, lies. It has always been a part of life, and it will always be. There are a lot of people who're scared to hear and know what the truth is. It is really scary, but what scares me the most is that it speaks for itself.    3 quarters of studying in the last grade level of junior highschool. It was tough, I can say that I am getting better at facing the challenges thrown at me. This quarter, the lessons in Edukasyon Sa Pagpapakatao gave a huge impact on my life and views. It carved "Maging Makadiyos, Maging Makabansa, Maging Makakalikasan, Magpkatao at Magpakatotoo" on my heart and soul. Something that was really amazing and life-changing.   In the remainder of the school year, I will continue my constant truth. I will side for what is right, ang fight for those who are abused with lies.Achievements and Money can buy happiness, but it can't buy dignity and respect of the people....

Holy Week: Conquering My Study Demons

Cuaresma or Holy Week is just day offs from school. In my own perspective, it was just an ordinary break from the world. A rest that I can enjoy throughout the span of the celebration. A week to spend time with relatives, family, and friends. A week away from academic works and stress. A week of relaxing and travelling places. A literal break, but was it? While most of us are enjoy the 6-day vacation by visiting churches, going to beaches, travelling to places, attending holy week activities, or by just simply sleeping, there I am, staring at a blank document. Finding the motivation to finish my backlogs, assignments, and projects given by our dear teachers. There I am creating reports while recalling lessons from the past. There I am making reviewers for the upcoming quarterly tests. There I am fighting with the demons that prevents me from doing work. There I am facing the demons whom I followed in the past weeks, the demons that caused my backlogs. Although holy week is a break, it ...

Leaving the Dark Norms of the Past

Women in the past few decades are ignored and are kept away from society. They are usually treated as things used for pleasure and often seen by the society as slaves. Without rights, limited roles, and isolated from the world we live in. With this, they are fueled with the desire to seek equality in opportunities, rights, and roles.   This March, we celebrate National Women's Month to empower women in the society. With the theme "WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society", it aims to amplify the voice of women against abuse, neglection, discrimination, and harassment. The voices we are unable to hear in the past echoes in the present. A scream for change, a scream that should have been heard before.    NWM tries to depict an equal society for everyone especially women. Bury the old norms and reborn a new community for all. A society far from harm and danger. A society that doesn't exclude anyone.   All of us should have equal opportunities and rights. We sh...

Does It Matter To Remember?

Throughout the school's existence, Ilocos Sur National High School always celebrates its Foundation Day. From the year 1903, until the present year which is 2023, the school never failed to celebrate its most important event. 121 years of witnessing wars, plagues, pandemics, and crises that disrupt the city of Vigan. In the present year, the DepEd, including ISNHS, is going through an educational crisis making the year harder than usual. Despite all of that, nothing really stopped us from remembering that significant date, the date that this school started to produce hope: Nation's Hope, World's Future. ISNHS' Foundation Day is celebrated every year, not only for us to remember the day, but for us to remember what it is all about. The school's slogan "Soar, Fly, Aim High" is embodied by us, students, thanks to the yearly reminder. We continue to soar and stand out in the crowd of brains. Continuously flying above expectations and obstructions that the worl...
